Trees. Girls. Spring.

Girl And A Tree

My latest strategy for getting the kids off to school with the least amount of stress is to simply walk out the door, hop into the car, put on some music, open a book and wait for them to catch up. Saves me having to say (400 times): “will you please put on your X, pick your Y and get your A out the door”.

I had this one rolling when my 10-year old got in the car this morning and it stopped him dead in his tracks. He didn’t say anything until the song was over then picked up the CD case and said: “did these guys make all that sound?”

The Fairfield Four – Noah – Sorry. There’s something amiss with this link…will try to repost at another time.

Romeo’s Tune makes me feel old. I think it’s because it was popular right at a convergent point in my life. I was 17, full of hormones, just into my first radio job and my first love affair (with a 21 year old nighttime disc jockey at the same station). It’s not a song indicative of what he’s all about; he seems a bit more mature and acoustic than this but it will always mark an era.

Steve Forbert – Romeo’s Tune

There are certain bands I like to listen to during the springtime: Steely Dan, UB40, Traffic. I don’t know why, they just work for me:

You could have add Steve’s “Goin’ Down to Laurel” to your hit list being from NY (okay upstate NY) as you probably saw the stop along the way.

Thanks dude. I have been scouring the internet off and on for a long time trying to remember the name of the song/artist for Romeo’s Tune.

As payback-have you heard Laura Cantrell’s version of EC’s “Indoor Fireworks” It’s great. You can get it at lauracantrell.com on her downloads page.
