I've always thought "Go Down Gamblin'" was their best and seeing them live in concert at the MN state fair in 2009 confirmed that choice. Granted, Steve Katz is the only original member still performing (and this after a 35 year absence) but the current members played all the hits true to their original sound.

You got the band photo right. This ban was by far the better band more blues.
The album Child Is Father to the Man had the powerful songs
1. I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
2. I Can't Quit Her
3. Without Her

I'll go with an album cut as #1, Sometimes In Winter, followed by You've Made Me So Very Happy and Go Down Gamblin.

If you like those three songs so much then maybe you should replace the photo for this post with one that actually has the lead singer (David Clayton Thomas) in it. You have the Al Kooper (front and center) version of the band posted, that's the first incarnation. All the hits came later.

While "You Made Me So Happy" may be one of Blood, Sweat & Tears best songs that is only because Brenda Holloway is such a fine writer, but BS&T version is wildly more popular, and it stinks of commercial. Brenda Holloway's version is the masterpiece (not just the best of the bunch). The sincerity captured on Brenda's version is lost when BS&T. It might simply be because she is a more skilled vocalist.

Tough to argue with those three, though I'd try to accommodate Spinning Wheel as well.

I disagree, Saw them Live with Don Maclain, when American Pie 1st came out. Go Down Gamblin, Spinning Wheel, for me are 2 of the best
