I try not to play music too loudly when my kids are around. I’d prefer they not suffer the kind of hearing loss I’ve suffered for lack of guidance about things like deafness, gum disease and Carole Bayer Sager records.
Low volume was likely the cause of the disinterest in Steve Earle’s Transcendental Blues, played this morning on the way to school. This one just needs to be played loud:
Steve Earle – Halo ‘Round The Moon
Steve Earle – Until The Day I Die
Steve Earle – All My Life

It was a banner day for my 10-year this past Saturday. He put two on goal in a 6v6 match against a pack of 12-year olds (most of them Hispanic kids who’ve been playing together for the past 6 years). Then he came home to find an acceptance letter from school of the arts, the place where he’s wanted to go for middle school for the the last three years. He was one of 90 kids accepted out of almost 400.
Erin Brockington And The Cast Of Fame – I Sing The Body Electric
I’m not bragging; he’s the one who made it happen. But, I’m really happy for him, no doubt about that.
Coming Up:
Kinky
Blue Mountain
Alela Diane
Saturday Morning Pictures
Glenn Tilbrook
Phosphorescence
Sir Bruce of Springsteen
