We’re in a bit of a jazz groove these days.

Last night, I watched Buddy Rich on the DVD player, his 1979 set at the Northsea Jazz Festival in Holland. Has there ever been (or will there ever be) a drummer with the speed and control that he had? He had remarkable dynamics and he never — ever — missed. There are plenty of amazing players out there but he still has me in awe every time I see him.
