A bass player friend of mine called and asked if I wanted to get together with him and a guitarist for a jam session. Sure! So he agreed to do it at my studio (since that’s where the drums are), we set a date and a time (and, of course, the bass player didn’t show up!).
But the guitarist and I got on well. So we’ve decided to quit our day jobs and make a living as rock stars, covering ‘old guy rock’ (and maybe a few new tunes that sound old).
Here’s our opening set list:
Did it in junior high. It can only get worse.
The Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Women
Ditto.
I like medleys, especially when they combine originals or songs people don’t know with overplayed ‘gems’ like this. I think Suzie Q will go great with Let It Rock by Chatham County Line.
Not one of my faves but the guitarist likes it. Already I’m compromising my art.
Let’s mix this with Voodoo Cadillac.
The Rolling Stones - Shake Your Hips
And this one will mix well with La Grange (’ah haw haw haw’)
