Don’t know exactly why I didn’t post this in the first place…let’s see if the links work!

The kids are on spring break; we’re spending lots of time at the library and the book stores, hanging out, avoiding the cold rain of…hmm…April. A couple of big projects need to be finished soon, too, so there’s not a lot of time to write epic blog posts.

So we’re mellowing out in a folkie kind of way.

A.C. Newman, the solo moniker for Carl Newman, was a member of Superconductor and Zumpano in the 1990’s and, in 2000, became the leader of the New Pornographers.

His second album, Get Guilty, was released about 2 weeks ago and is getting all kinds of hype on eMusic.

His wiki says he’s compared with Ray Davies and Harry Nilsson. I don’t quite hear the Nilsson connection on this record, but there’s a certain working class UK quirkiness about it (even though he’s from Canada).

I quite like these cuts, which I gave listen to this afternoon. They remind me of some of the stuff I played in the clubs back in the 1980’s.
