Pete Yorn, Scarlett Johansson and Xavier Rudd

A few days before my last post we pulled up stakes and moved. It was only about 120 blocks south of where we lived but it’s true what they say: 120 blocks could be 120 thousand miles; you still have to pack. A few days after we moved, my Mom came to visit. Therein lies the reason why there’s been so little activity here at F45 for the past few weeks.
Been a lot of musical activity, though. The new place warranted a new (and smaller) piano, so my boy is now playing a Charles Walters upright instead of a Bergmann grand. The Bergmann (a low-fi Young Chang product) was crap, though, so he’s better for the change. (Young Chang stopped making the Bergmann…further proof of it’s craplike quality).
I’ve seen some pretty good music over the past few weeks. The radio station where I work has lunch time acoustic sets pretty regularly. One week, they had Pete Yorn, David Gray, Howie Day and Xavier Rudd right in a row, interspersed with some chick name Kate Earl. The former packed the place; they had to bribe the staff with food to get them to listen to the latter. A pretty girl but a mindless singer.
Pete Yorn was pretty sharp — complete with a guy on mandolin and a young cat playing acoustic guitar — but this tune, which he sings with Scarlett Johansson in sort of Brigitte Bardot/Serge Gainsbourg thing will be all the talk in the weeks to come.
Pete Yorn And Scarlett Johansson – Relator
I actually liked the live version of this tune better than this recording but I haven’t cut it up yet. A beautiful song, though.
