The boys and I played again last night and it's actually starting to come together a little. (We still suck albeit a little less than last week.) The bass player and I are starting to fall into sync. Now, we need to figure out how to break the news to the guitar player that he really can't sing...maybe by bringing in a keyboard player who can? Thanks for the comment. I've drummed semi-pro and pro for a lot of years but retired from playing (for money) a few years ago. My son is now banging the beats out to carry on the family name. But yer totally correct about the three chord thing. BTO AC/DC etc etc. If you can hang onto a tempo it makes the band sound good and gets them dancin' everytime I've played enough House tours to know that Takin Care Of Business beats Carry On My Wayward Son every time and with half the work.
