It’s Like Being A Junkie Living Next Door To A Crack House

Al StewartYou can imagine the financial peril upon which I teeter every day having a used record store just a few blocks from my house. It’s like being a junkie living next door to a crack house.

I’m fairly disciplined, though. I’m still wont to spending no more than 50 cents for a piece of used vinyl. Imagine how I lit up whilst shuffling through the 25 cent boxes, finding Michael Bloomfield‘s It’s Not Killing Me, Leo Kottke‘s My Feet Are Smiling and Al Stewart‘s Modern Times amongst the Carpenters records. Three fine and distinguished records for 75 cents!

I haven’t had the chance to listen to all three but Stewart has been committed to digits and will soon be reviewed on Sal’s Boutique. Hopefully, I can revive that again after 7 months without a post.

In the early ’90s, about the time most folks were selling their vinyl to move to CDs, I was only four blocks from a great used record store. Vinyl madness was the result.
