Hollywood Records / Acid

Back in 1995, Hollywood Records put out a sampler of their stuff called ACID/BASE. On one disc, a dozen cuts from the UK label ACID JAZZ (which was distributed at the time by Hollywood).
The Brand New Heavies opened the set, artists like the James Taylor Quartet, Snowboy, Gregory Isaacs and Vibraphonic got a nod. Being that it’s owned by Disney, it’s not surprising Hollywood’s now the home of every pop merchandising project from Miley Cyrus to the Jonas Brothers.
But at the time of this piece, they were pretty hip. A rare set that’s now hard to track down.
African Head Charge – To Fari Hail
Corduroy – London, England
Emperor’s New Clothes – Unsettled Life
Gregory Isaacs – Matey
Janette Sewell – Peace And Love
Mother Earth – Time of The Future
Quiet Boys – Sim Ting
Snowboy – Anarchy In The U.K.
Sunship – Sunship
Brand New Heavies – Mother’s Tongue
