Glen Sings Travis (And Sky Sings Corner of The Sky)

The picture above is of my 8-year old son, Skyler, appearing in his first feature role as Theo in the local high school production of Pippin. My wife is the theater teacher at the school so it makes perfect sense that Sky is her go-to guy whenever there is a role for a kid.
I’ll dispense with the typical “he was tremendous” gushing that would come from a proud father with his own public forum. But, I will admit that when Sky did his little acapella version of Corner Of The Sky at the end of the show, I choked up every time.
The only problem is that the soundtrack is stuck in my head and it won’t go away. I guess that’s what happens when you see the show a dozen times within a week. The only thing that’s coming close to pushing Magic To Do out of my mind is this one, a great version of Travis‘ Sing, from the new Meet Glen Campbell album.

I know what you mean. My oldest daughter (turning 8 tomorrow) is enrolled in a local charter school that places a very strong emphasis on the performing arts and I have witnessed many a concert with tears in my eyes. There’s nothing like it, congrats!
Now, about that song stuck in your head thing: A good hour long dose of Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain” usually takes care of it for me…
Eureka! The Cure to the common Pippin! Foxboro Hot Tubs seems to be helping, too! Thanks for visiting.
Oh, don’t be shy of your boy’s genius. Shout it from the rooftops. Any father will understand.
