Danny O’Keefe’s Calling It Quits
Over at Setting The Woods On Fire, there’s been some discussion about Steve Goodman’s Steve Young’s (two) original versions of Seven Bridges Road. I’m partial to the Eagles‘ version because it’s the one I heard first and the one I’ve like for so long.
Goodman’s a great songwriter, though, and I love his voice. It reminds me of Danny O’Keefe, a folkie I think is tremendously underrated.

Steve Goodman was a fine songwriter, but it was Steve Young who wrote Seven Bridges Road.
That’s exactly what I meant!
I have now learnt that Seven Bridges Road is just outside Montgomery, Alabama. Which is a few weeks too late; it would’ve been perfect for that US Tour thing, I’m doing. I have the Steve Young version lined up for the Originals series (which will in due course feature Steve Goodman with City Of New Orleans as well).
