Carrot Soup And Music
Records don’t always need to be earth-shattering. Sometimes they can simply be enjoyable.
Like this one, from She Swings, She Sways. They’re a 6-man (well, 5-men and 1-woman) band from the home of Radar O’Reilly: Ottumwa, Iowa. They play self-described “Midwestern music” and they once rescued a horse who had fallen through a frozen pond. You can read more about them here.
I popped this one on in the background while making soup for the kids. When it came time to eat and I went to turn it down, my 8-year old said, “Hey, wait, I like that song”.
Their stuff is kind of catchy.
She Swings, She Sways – Flown The Coop

Thank you very much – as the writer of afore-mentioned songs, I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed them.
“Earth-shattering” is a fairly tall order to fill, so I try to leave that to those better qualified/experienced.
All the best to you and yours.
John Gordon
P.S. – it sounds like your 8 year old has EXCELLENT taste in pop music!
Going backward through your blog grants the advantage that I know how it will end: With a big bang!
Meanwhile count me duly addicted, and will gladly settle now for a small band. It has the same cozyness as my mon’s sheppard pie and my gran’s pineapple cake. I lose myself into the entwining rhythms and it feels just like home again. Ironic that for a song called “flown the coop”, that somehow it fits as well.
